Robert Kirkman - The Road to Woodbury (The Walking Dead #2)

The book focuses on Lilly and her path to Woodbury, Georgia. A rural town that is barricaded and walled off to separate the living from the undead, it seems to be the perfect sanctuary. Life appears idyllic, with plenty of food, shelter and security provided to its residents. The town expands and grows stronger every day and Woodbury's leader, Philip Blake, keeps the citizens in line. Lilly however, begins to suspect all is not as it seems

This is a spoiler-free review

This book doesn't focus on the governor's mindset too much - whereas the first book in the series did - but rather his actions. I got to like the characters at first, but towards the end some of them grew very annoying.

The main characteristics that I liked about the first book in the series - the insight into the governor's mind and way of thinking - were left behind entirely in the follow-up novel.
It may be interesting to read about sane people for a while, but seriously, it took the suspense out almost entirely for me.

There are also some things that happen in the TV series that don't happen (like that) in the novel.
